The Camera

1. Explain the “camera obscura” effect. How is it achieved?
The cameras obscura effect is "dark room" which was came to come from a hole acting as lens focusing and translating light thru a wall of dark chamber.

2. What invention during the 17th Century helped man get a step closer to creating the modern camera?
When Issac Newton and Chris Huygens perfected of knowing the Optics and how too make glass lens high quality.

3. What were the parts of the first modern camera invented by Niepce?
Niepce added film too the camera.

4.What do modern digital cameras have in common with Niepce’s camera?
What modern cameras have in common with Niepces camera is that light passes through the lens into the camera and exposes the film.

5. What do digital cameras use to capture an image?
The film.

Camera Modes

6. What is the difference between the Auto Mode and the Program mode?
Auto & Program mode is the default for shooting photos on most cameras your guaranteed when you take a photo it will be a great image.

7. What is the Portrait mode used for? How does it work?
The Portrait mode is used for blurring out the background of a photo and the camera will use the fasted cameras lens setting as possible.

8. What is the Sports mode used for? (not just sports) How does it work?
The sports mode is used for freezing the moment and capturing the photo and having the highest shutter speed.

The Half Press

9. Why should you do a half press on the trigger button?
 To see how the photo will come out and explore the composition on the scene.

Controlling Flash


10. What does this symbol mean?
This symbol below means no flash at all.












 When would you use this?
when there is no flash needed at natural light.

11.What does this symbol mean?
This symbol means that flash is default and only will fire the flash if there is not enough light.









When would you use this?
When the camera might not have enough light.

Introduction to Exposure

12. What happens to your photo if there is too much light?
If there is too much light i your photo will look washed out

13. What happens to your photo if there is not enough light?
If there is not enough light in the photo the photo will look too dark.


The Universal Stop

14. What is a “stop.”
Stop represents a relative change in the brightness of light.

15. How many stops brighter is the new planet if there are two sons instead of one?
1 stop

16. How many stops brighter is the new planet if there are four sons instead of two?
 2 stops

Shutters and Aperture 

17. What affect does a longer shutter speed of have?
Longer shutter speed has more light.

18. What affect does a shorter shutter speed have?
A shorter shutter speed has less light.

19. What does the aperture control?
The aperture controls amount of light going into the photo.

20. When adjusting the aperture, how can you increase the amount of light?
When adjusting the aperture you can increase the amount of light by having a larger F stop.

Exploring the Canon Rebel T3 
List the buttons you see on the back and the top of the camera. Provide a definition of what those buttons are and what they do.
  • Aperture button- too adjust the lightening going thru the photo.
  • Erase button- to erase photos you dislike.
  • Menu button- to show your options
  • Settings button- to adjust settings and view of photos.
  • Iso- To change shutter speed.
  • White balance- to adjust brightness and darkness of photos.
